Katie and John’s Multi-Day Wedding Weekend in the California Desert was rich with vibrant design, cultural meaning, and heartfelt moments. They hosted a three-day celebration in Palm Desert.
The weekend kicked off with a Friday evening welcome party at Hotel Paseo. Guests enjoyed tacos, margaritas, churros, and a relaxed atmosphere that set the tone for a celebration rooted in connection and warmth. On Saturday, Katie and John exchanged vows at Kempa Villa, a modern private estate with sweeping mountain views and a peaceful desert backdrop.
Katie wore a custom Monique Lhuillier gown embroidered with colorful floral and butterfly appliqués. Her dress glowed in the desert sun and reflected the playful spirit of the day. Throughout the design, we wove in nods to their heritage. Australian flowers and foliage honored Katie’s roots, while Spanish paella was served during cocktail hour in tribute to John’s family.
The reception space was designed to feel textural, colorful, and intimate. We mixed rectangular farm tables and round tables with natural wishbone chairs. Ceramic vessels held wind-resistant arrangements of bougainvillea, banksia protea, and seasonal blooms. Each place setting featured stemless blue glassware, gold flatware, printed menus, and soft blue napkins. Personal travel mementos from the couple were styled throughout the decor to create a space that felt deeply personal and reflective of their travel adventures.
Custom invitations and signage brought cohesion to the event, giving the weekend a polished, resort-inspired feel. As a full-service wedding planning and design team, we specialize in crafting immersive wedding experiences that combine strong visual identity with intentional guest flow and meaning.
Dinner was served family-style under a full moon, creating a magical and relaxed al fresco atmosphere. After dinner, a lively band got the dance floor moving with high-energy music and celebration. When the reception wrapped, guests boarded luxury shuttles to continue the party at a wine bar in Palm Desert. The weekend ended with a thoughtful grab-and-go breakfast at Hotel Paseo on Sunday morning.
