UNITED THEATER On Broadway

As guests stepped into the iconic United Theater on Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles, they were surrounded by vaulted ceilings, intricate plasterwork, and mythological murals of Hollywood legends. A mirrored dome ceiling glowed above the stage, adorned with crystal pendants and a radiant sunburst. The first notes of The Phantom of the Opera played on harp and violin, and guests immediately felt chills. The music marked the beginning of an evening rooted in presence, emotion, and sensory anticipation.

In the theater’s Grand Lobby, we designed a long, glowing dinner table that stretched through the golden interior. The table was layered with sequin linens, velvet napkins, tall candelabras, a whimsical shadowbox menu holder, and carved wooden chairs with black velvet seats. The design featured a mix of metals, including gold and silver accents, which added contrast and visual depth. Each place setting included ornate black and gold chargers, astrological dinner plates, etched crystal glassware, and custom black wood name cards engraved in gold. Amethyst crystals topped each card, offering a tactile moment of energy and intention.

The design featured dramatic floral installations in deep purples, wine tones, hot pinks, soft nudes, and electric blues that framed the DJ booth, cascaded from the balcony, surrounded the cake table, and enveloped the musicians. Florals filled the theater and lobby with expressive, layered texture. Blue butterflies fluttered throughout the design, creating movement, magic, and moments of whimsy.

This was not just a dinner party. It was an experience rooted in emotion, connection, and immersive design. Set inside one of the most unique venues in Los Angeles, it celebrated opulent maximalism, moody romance, and the power of intentional gatherings.
